Oregon Road Trip Part 2

Here is the second part of our fun but whirlwind trip.  We drove up a small part of the California coast into Oregon.  On the way, we spotted a Pirate Festival and had to stop.  It was small but neat.  We ate gourmet baked potatoes for lunch and listened to some folk artists.  We also stopped at some local beaches.  We wanted to stop and go through a dinosaur park but ran out of time.  We arrived at Heather's and Brian's in time for dinner on Friday.  I really didn't plan that....o.k. I did.  Heather made us great burritos.  The next day we all went to several beaches, played in tide pools, walked through the botanical garden, hiked, souvenir shopped, had a seafood lunch, went crabbing, hiked sand dunes and ended the day at Sunset beach.  It was so fun.  The kids were happily worn out.  Thanks Heather and Brian. On Sunday, we ate breakfast, said our goodbyes and headed to Crater Lake. It was breathtaking.  We learned about a phantom ship by Wizard Island on the lake.  No one knows how it got there.  Eerie! The kids hiked around and had a snowball fight. Yes, there was snow at the end of July! Then we made the long trip home, arriving Monday night. Whew!
