Weekend Escape

On October 24th, Anne, Sierra, Sky and I drove down to Zions to celebrate Christy's birthday. Kira had to stay back for a debate tournament. We arrived on Friday night. Christy and Alexis played the guitar for us. They are quite good. I'm envious. The next day, Christy showed us her new portrait studio and took our portraits. Wish we had cleaned up better. Oh well. We then played in the nearby river. The weather was great and the kids had a blast. Sky and I said goodbye to our tree frog and three toads. We caught the toads last Memorial day and raised them from tadpoles. They hopped away slowly. About 20 minutes later, Sky caught a different toad and asked to keep it. I had to explain that the toads like warm weather and water...not snow. He was o.k. with this. Whew! The cousins took turns on a rope swing. We hiked to a "haunted" dairy farm and abandoned power plant. Christy said that a little girl burned to death when lightening struck and burned the power plant. Whether a legend or fact...creepy. After a long day in the sun, Christy and Joe barbecued ribs. On Sunday, we shopped the outlet store in St. George and ate caramel apples. We then hiked through the narrows in Zions. Many tourists were surprised to see Sierra and Sky trudging through the water and rocks. They encouraged and praised them. The water was cold but the scenery was spectacular. The weekend was fun. We will have to go back in the Spring. Thanks Webb family for everything. Love you Christy!
